A Little Real-Life Update
Outside of writing, I’ve also been spending time trying to rescue my very messy garden. I live in zone 4B, at 8,500 feet in elevation, and I don’t have a greenhouse yet, so gardening is always an interesting endeavor. 🤣 Last year, I was surprised to discover that we also have pocket gophers in my area, and they did a flawless job at eating almost all of my crops, including a whole bed of potatoes and almost two beds of onions. I definitely shed some tears over all the empty beds.
This year, I’m redoing my raised beds and adding hardware cloth to them so the gophers can’t climb up and eat everything, and it’s taking a lot more time than I expected. Yesterday, I finally managed to get some seeds planted, and this morning was my first drink-coffee-and-water-plants morning, which makes it feel like summer is actually here.
